I build Nixie clocks in Kyiv. I also design them, and that is what most of this page is about.
I started in 2017. The clock I make now is not the clock I made then.
2019 — the tubes went into sockets
On most Nixie clocks a dead tube means a soldering iron and a steady hand, or a clock that has stopped being a clock. I was one of the first to build them the other way. Every clock I have made since comes apart by hand in about a minute, with no iron and no technician — which is the reason these clocks outlive the tubes inside them.
2020 — a motion sensor
The tubes stopped being made in the 1980s and nobody is going to make more, so the ones that exist are all there will ever be. The display now rests when the room is empty. That single change is the difference between a few years of tube life and many.
2022 — the clock started reading the room
Temperature and humidity, shown between the digits. And a second RGB strip underneath the case, so the wood glows as well as the glass — until then the light had only ever come from above.

I am not finished. I expect the clock I build next year to do something this one does not.
The one thing I cannot improve is the glass. Every tube was made in a Soviet factory before the lines stopped, has never been used, and is tested on a live board before it goes into a case — only the ones that glow evenly are used. Since 2017 close to 3,800 clocks have left the bench, and the 760 buyers who reviewed them average 4.97 out of 5.
Every clock carries a twelve-month warranty. If something has gone wrong with a clock, the contact page says what to send me so I can sort it in one reply. For anything else, the form at the bottom of this page reaches me directly — I answer, usually the same day.
